Thank you for wandering over to my blog. Welcome. I am a mother, a wife, and a runner. I was in the best shape of my life. I felt strong, confident and beautiful. At 43 years old, I was comfortable in my skin.
My two teenage boys were handling the teenage thing fairly well and my husband and I nearing our 20th wedding anniversary, were becoming closer than ever. On October 28, 2014, everything in our seemingly idyllic life took a turn towards the unexpected. That was the night that I had a major hemorrhagic stroke.
I started this blog to share my successes and failures. I will hopefully give you information on strokes, traumatic brain injuries, and recovery. I also would like to offer hope. Hope that there is life beyond survival. That despite a disability, we can still thrive.
The last years has been one of trials, struggles, and discovery. Please join me as I continue to work on my recovery, as I attempt to put pieces of my self together and as I try to reach my goals and find my way to my new normal.
I hope to bring awareness and education about stroke prevention, the recovery process and life as a survivor.
I will share something twice a month, more if I have something big to share!
Much love,
Momma Berna
